Or, maybe you’re worried about having to say “no” when asked to play a song this Christmas because you haven’t learned how to quickly create arrangements on the fly?

If your answer is a big and resounding “YES,” then I’m happy to tell you that I have a solution for you that will likely be the best news you’ve read today.

First, let me tell you my story…[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

I Was Terrible At Creating Arrangements On The Fly!

[/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”17″ font_font=”PT Sans” font_color=”#181818″ bottom_margin=”40″ line_height=”27″]When I was 15 years old I played my first gig. It was at a restaurant called the Wickford Inn in Rhode Island. Soon, I “graduated” up to the Red Rooster Inn which was just up the road, but a ‘swankier’ establishment.

I would open up my real book, play jazz standards, and sweat bullets worried that someone would ask me to play something I didn’t know.

“Would I get fired if I couldn’t play these songs?!?” I thought.

See, I wasn’t great at reading music…at all. This meant I needed to create arrangements on the fly!

I could read chords and I taught myself how to create piano arrangements for jazz standards, but creating them ‘on the fly’ was a challenge.

This meant I needed to rely a lot on my ears, my knowledge of chords, and a little bit of luck to get through the gig.

I remember many nights having that flush feeling in my face; seeing those dozens of staring eyes watching me play the piano; nervous that at any moment I would be asked to pack up and go home.

Afraid of failure.

This feeling was especially strong around Christmas time.

Why? Well, when Christmas rolled around, I needed to play Christmas songs…of course!

However, since I wasn’t playing Christmas songs all year round it felt like I was starting from scratch every time I looked at those lead sheets.

There were several tricks I know now that would have made my life easier…but I didn’t know them at the time.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

My Piano Arrangements Stunk!

[/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”17″ font_font=”PT Sans” font_color=”#181818″ line_height=”27″]Could I play basic Christmas songs?

Sure, but I was always confused by the lead sheets that had so many chords per measure. I would think “How am I supposed to play all those chords?

I also thought my arrangements stunk!

I didn’t know at the time how to create a full arrangement for these Christmas songs because I spent such little time working on these arrangements all year round.

I found it difficult to create original-sounding left hand accompaniments that weren’t downright BORING.

You know those arrangements…block chord, triad, one and 5…blah! I wanted something more, something that sounded like what the jazz musicians I listened to on, yes, records were playing.

I wanted to “spice up” my arrangements by playing these songs in different styles like New Orleans, Rock, Gospel or even Disco!

But I didn’t know how to change the music, what chords to choose, or what rhythms to play in order to create those different styles.

Should I have worked out these arrangements earlier in the year? Sure, I admit that. But you know how it is…time slips away until before you know it someone is asking you to play Away in a Manger.

Sound familiar?[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””]

What If You Had A System To Follow That Would Guarantee A Killer Piano Arrangement?

[/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”17″ font_font=”PT Sans” font_color=”#181818″ line_height=”27″]I had to “sweat bullets” to cobble together a jazz christmas arrangement at the piano, but you don’t have to.

You can benefit from avoiding all of the mistakes I have made over the years!

After 25 years of playing professionally and teaching thousands of students, I’ve perfected my PianoWithWillie method to make it easy for you to learn as fast as possible without sacrificing quality or the important theory that you need to know as a pianist.

My teaching philosophy is simple:

  1. Teach students how to get to the ‘fun’ stuff without being bogged down my music theory
  2. Teach music theory behind-the-scenes so students learn it…without it getting in the way

I’ve found that my method makes it more fun and engaging for my students because they are learning right away.

Have you ever been told by a teacher that you need to learn a bunch of scales and exercises before you get to learn an actual song?

They might have you believe that learning all of those scales and exercises are necessary in order to play the song.

I’ve found that it’s possible for me to teach all of those scales and exercises while students learn the song and arrangement.

This means my students get the benefit of learning the theory…while learning the song.

Determining what not to play is just as important as learning what to play. In this module, you’ll learn how to get to the “meat” of the harmony so you are stripping away all of the bad chords and exposing the harmony that is most important to the arrangement.

So many in depth  concepts are covered in this session like: moving between major and minor, 2-5-1’s, figuring out chords to a melody, adding in tensions to your chords, harmonizing using just 1-4-5’s, creating a jazz arrangement for a song and much more!
